Alligator boat dock #2 on Lake Cumberland at Indian Hills Resort in Russell County sustained $800,000 in damages following a wind burst on Monday afternoon that occurred around 3:00 p.m. and lasted about 3 minutes.
Five boats and jet skis were crushed, a roof on a boat slip collapsed (taking the walkway with it) and a 2-story house boat was picked up by the wind and landed on the dock. Thankfully no one was injured and the marina is staying open despite the damage, and is offering water taxi-service so that customers can still get out to their boats. Repairs will hopefully be completed by the 4th of July holiday, according to the marina manager. The vehicle, a 1992 Ford two-door car, then made a left hand turn into the Springs Mobile Home Park, continuing through the mobile home park to the back side which connects to Lakeway Hills through residential yards. All the teams had a great time and the majority caught a large number of crappie while at Green River Lake. “I commend the teams on taking great care of their catch this weekend. Post spawn fish are deeper and more difficult to keep healthy and these teams went the extra mile to take care of the fish and even weigh in partial limits early in the day to allow for a healthy release of all fish”, said Darrell Van Vactor, tournament director. “Green River Lake is one of those rare finds, where everyone can catch a lot of fish almost year round”.
